VPS/Dedicated Plans and Upgrades
Here are some useful stuff on managed VPS & Dedicated plans we are offering. This explains how the VPS plans can be upgraded or customized with additional storage, core and RAM. Customers won’t be able to upgrade their VPS/Dedicated Plans from Basic to higher plans. If a customer need to upgrade then, they need to sign up for the higher plan and transfer the files to new account and could cancel their old plan.
Always encourage customers to go for VPS Business plan as Basic VPS has limited resources than of shared hosting. Here are the plan details and upgrades we can offer on VPS plans:
1. VPS Basic Plan has 1core and 1gig of RAM by default. It can be upgraded to dual core and 2Gigs of RAM. This is the max we can allot for a VPS basic plan.
At the hardware abstract layer(HAL), for a VPS basic, the RAM and Core are tied together in one flavor. So if the client wants either a core or a RAM, they need to go purchase both RAM and Core at $5.00 /month for each RAM and Core.
2. VPS Business Plan has dual core and 2 gigs of RAM. The following resources can be added:
a) 1 core (Stand alone) - after the upgrade, the server will have 3 core and 2GB of RAM
b) 2GB RAM (Stand alone)- after the upgrade, the server will have 2 core and 4GB of RAM
c) 2cores (Stand alone) - after the upgrade, the server will have quad core and 2GB of RAM.
d) 2core and 2GB (combo and final upgrade) - after the upgrade, the server will have quad core and 4GB of RAM.
3. VPS Optimum Plan quad core and 8GB of RAM. The following resources can be added:
a) 2 cores (stand alone) - after upgrade, server will have 6 cores with 8GB RAM.
b) 4 cores (stand alone) - after upgrade, server will have 8 cores with 8GB RAM.
c) 4GB RAM (stand alone) - after upgrade, server will have 4 cores with 12GB RAM.
d) 4 Core + 4GB RAM ( combo and final) - after upgrade, server will have 8 cores with 12GB RAM.

Here are details on Dedicated Servers and Upgrades available:
Dedicated Server upgrades:
The maximum we upgrade is 16 cores and 32 GB RAM. On hardware perspective, we have 8 core multi-threaded and 32Gb RAM. There are 4 RAM slots, 8 GB ram sticks is the highest the arch will support.
(Multithreading is the ability of a central processing unit (CPU) or a single core in a multi-core processor to execute multiple processes or threads concurrently, appropriately supported by the operating system.)
Hard Drive Upgrade. To be honest, we can add more than 1TB to any of the servers. But for now, you can advise the client to purchase any one of these:
# Addon Storage
- 30 GB Storage $8.00/month
- 250 GB Storage $30.00/month
- 500 GB Storage $50.00/month
Also, this upgrade mount points are different. If client has 40 GB and they want 30 GB extra, we can't add 30 GB to the 40 GB drive and make it 70GB. 40 GB will remain as it is, and 30 GB will be mounted to a separate folder where the client wished to be mounted to. Also, we can NOT mount the additional storage to the root.

While we do the re-imaging of the server OS, clients will lose all their data, so please advise them to take full backup of their website. Also, when we re-image the server to a different OS like Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu or any CentOS flavor where customer wants to REMOVE the cPanel, we can do that, however; they will NOT be eligible for managed Software support.
We will deal only with log in and other hardware related issues for such customers. If their website is throwing errors etc, its on them. They need to look after that.
NOTE:
If a new customer from domain.com, spry and VPSLink or any un-managed VPS properties, wants a VPS/Dedi server, please push them iPage, Fatcow Or iPower VPS accounts. Do not encourage them to sign up for unmanaged Servers. Our Managed Servers are at PROVO and have better hardware and software compared to the un-managed ones that are at BOSTON.
